Stomped in the Ground

Welcome back to another ODPH pro-wrestling recap. If you were looking for last week’s blog, I was a guest on 3FNW ( & everything wrestling was covered, but this is a new week leading into a WWE PPV & more. Let’s go, shall we?

*RAW WAS WATCHABLE!!!! FINALLY!!!!! Crazy Seth Rollins swing chairs on everyone! GREAT 5-way for #1 United States Championship with Ricochet getting the big W! Roman Reigns vs the new Corporation?! Seth Rollins vs. Daniel Bryan with a CLEAN (restarted) finish! Overall, very good show.

*Smackdown didn’t keep the momentum going BUT it did enough to build up the PPV. Best Moment: Alexa Bliss DESTROYING Bayley in a promo. At least it had R-Truth to carry the show because…..

*The 24/7 has been the best storyline on both shows & even has slowly taken that title from Firefly FunHouse. Two people need to take credit for this: R-Truth & Drake Maverick. They have made a throwaway title into something truly must watch TV. Title change at a wedding? Amazing

*WWE Stomping Grounds is this Sunday so here’s the early ODPH predictions (but head over to 3FN on Facebook for their prediction contest).

WWE Cruiserweight Championship Match
Akira Tozawa vs Drew Gulak vs. Tony Nese (C)

205 Live doesn’t get enough credit about their product. You want great wrestling? Watch the program and this match. Expecting a solid open to the show & Nese to retain for a little longer.

Roman Reigns vs Drew McIntyre

Roman vs the new Corporation continues with this match. I’m going with the upset with McIntyre pulling the win off with help from Shane.

Kevin Owens/Sami Zayn vs. The New Day

Great mid-card feud happening on Smackdown. For the eventual Big E turn, there’s no way I see New Day losing this one. New Day FTW.

Smackdown Tag Team Championship Match

Heavy Machinery vs. The Captain Planets (Bryan & Rowan)

Lost in the shuffle is this storyline IMO. I don’t think Heavy Machinery is ready just yet, so I like the Captains retaining in this one.

United States Championship Match

Ricochet vs. Samoa Joe (C)

This SHOULD be match of the night. Expecting big things from this one and the start of a long program between these 2. Samoa Joe to retain.

Smackdown Women’s Championship Match

Alexa Bliss vs. Bayley (c)

If Alexa is healthy enough to wrestle, she’s healthy enough to win. Bayley hasn’t really done too much with her latest run & if Sasha is coming back, their forthcoming feud won’t be for the belt. The Goddess FTW

Raw Women’s Championship Match

Lacey Evans vs. THE MAN Becky Lynch (c)

Evans isn’t ready for the belt & they NEED to switch people up for Lynch to keep any momentum. This hasn’t taken off for a great storyline so I expect this to end quick with Lynch being #ANDSTILL

RAW Universal Championship Match w/ Special Guest Referee

Baron Corbin vs. Seth Rollins

Rollins should retain and end this feud before SummerSlam. the Guest ref will set the tempo for the next program, and that’s why I like BRAY WYATT as the guest ref. Not afraid of Rollins per character, plus it will be a big enough shock to the fans expecting Lesnar to cash in here.

WWE Championship Steel Cage Match

Dolph Ziggler vs Kofi (c)

This should be a great match. Ziggler is always in a great match and with the main event slot, expect him to rise to occasion. I like Kofi to win, only to lose to a LESNAR CASH IN WIN to close the show. WWE wants to shake things up on this show. this is a perfect way to do it.
