So we talking Wrestling?

Welcome to the first weekly installment of the ODPH pro Wrestling Recap blog. This blog is in response to listener request for more Wrestling content. Now, the question you’re probably asking is: well, why not just do a wrestling podcast then? The answer is fairly simple: Whenever we’ve done the recap podcast, the ODPH has always made it into a special edition when there’s a big event happening. If this blog takes off, we can always look at doing that down the road more frequently.

If you’re looking for a wrestling podcast, check out 3FN on Wrestling:

Taking over this blog will be Coach Duffy & Vinny. Other members of the ODPH might contribute from time to time, but those 2 will be the main writers of the blog. Hit them up on twitter @ODparlayhour & let them know what you think. Now on with this blog:

  • WWE didn’t have a memorable week of shows this week. Raw didn’t do much as it just seemed like a “eh” show. Money in the bank participants were announced: Braun stroman, Ricochet, Drew McIntyre & Baron Corbin & on the Women’s side: Natalya, Dana Brooke, Naomi & Alexa Bliss were added. The build for Styles vs Rollins was pretty standard but everything else was fairly forgetable.

  • SD didn’t improve much. MITB wrestlers were: Randy Orton, Andrade, Ali & Finn Balor. On the women’s side, Mandy rose, Bayley, Ember Moon & Carmella round out that match. Roman vs. Authority 2.0 was in full swing. One moment DID standout however: the Hardys had to give up the belts due to Jeff’s injury. Overall, it was better than Raw but not by a lot.

  • Honestly, the best thing between both shows is Bray Wyatt’s “Firefly Funhouse” cause it’s either gonna be the best thing ever or the biggest miscue in years. Leaning towards the former with that. It needs to be a weekly talk show.

  • 205live was 205live, but NXT stood out for 2 reasons: KUSHIDA debuted & Velveteen Dream’s Anthem. Both were worth an internet rewatch.

  • MITB should be a good show but it will be going against the series finale of Game of Thrones. Luckily, there’s the WWE network to rewatch. I like Mcintyre & Mandy Rose to hold briefcases at the end of the night.

  • More drama with rumors of wrestlers trying to leave WWE, but one who got out & made some noise: the artist FKA Dean Ambrose….Jon Moxley. Mox put out a 90’s -like action movie trailer saying he’s back. Early guess….see you in Vegas on the 25th for AEW

  • Impact: rebellion PPV was another solid outing for Impact wrestling. Lucha Bros vs. LAX was in-ring magic again (AND THAT FLIP BUMP BY FENIX!!! PROTECT YOUR NECK!!!!). Michael Elgin debuted and what a match between Tessa Blanchard & Gail Kim! Don’t sleep on Impcat PPV’s. They are vastly better than they get credit for!

That’s all for now, but hit us up on Twitter & let us know your thoughts on the wrestling week!

Thanks for reading & supporting the ODPH!
