Special Parlay Points: Wrestlemania Preview

On this special edition of Parlay Points, we let ODPH afflliate VINNY! offer his predictions for WWE Wrestlemania this Sunday (April 7th). This is a great piece to go along with the ODPH Wrestling Recap feat. George Gatton (Available now ). Take it away Vin!

With Wrestlemania 35 this Sunday I figured what better day to contribute my first blog to the ODPH. I will be giving you my thoughts & predictions for the Show Case of the Immortals. The past few Wrestlemania’s I thought were going to be very predictable going in, but in the end that wasn’t the case.So I feel this year there will be a few swerves and surprises. As always there are several appearances by former wrestlers and Hall of Famer‘s. Some surprises I can see happening is appearances by Hulk Hogan, Undertaker, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Ron Simmons (damn!), And a big surprise by the Rock to interrupt Elias’s Rock Concert. But, if the rock  doesn’t interrupt him then look for John Cena (if he’s not already involved in the Kurt Angle match).

Womens Battle Royal:

There are a few ways the WWE can go with us. Looking at the participants it’s hard to choose the onefemale that I think should win. Throughout the battle royal I look for other storylines to begin. I wouldn’tbe surprised if this starts a feud with Mandy Rose and Sonia Deville. With that being said Lacey Evans has been forced on us every week and at some point she’s going to have do something. I look for her to have a great showing and possibly win. If it’s not her my next pick would be Nikki Cross.

Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal:

I like the idea of this match being a steppingstone for the superstar that wins it. But, that has not beenthe case the last couple years. This almost feels like a throwaway just to get some of the wrestlers onthe card. Most of these guys Are midcard at best. I don’t even know who to pick. But I’m going to go outon a limb and pick up Apollo Crews. He has been having a strong showing the last couple of weeks and deserves a little push. But, I would not be surprised if Braun pulled off The victory.

The Usos (c) vs. Aleister Black and Ricochet vs. The Bar vs. Rusev and Shinsuke Nakamura

(Fatal 4-Way Match for the WWE Smackdown Tag Team Championship):

This match was just thrown together on SmackDown by Alexa (Who knew the host of Wrestlemania had authority to make matches). I look for this Match to be one of the better ones of the night. In the end I would not be surprised if Ricochet & Black Walk out of Wrestlemania weekend with both the SmackDown tag team Championships as well as NXT Tag team champions.

WWE Cruiserweight Championship

Buddy Murphy (c) vs. Tony Nese:

I’m looking forward to this match because I believe these guys will feel like they have something different for the crowd and something to prove. Guys from 205 put on some of the best matches So I don’t see this one being any different. In the end I see Buddy Murphy continuing his reign and retaining The cruiserweight championship.

Kurt Angle vs. Baron Corbin:

There is a lot of out rage over this match. I for one think it was a terrible idea to put Angle against Corbin. I think if you were going to put him against a ““younger“ talent I would’ve much rather seen somebody like Matt Riddle. But I don’t see that happening. My prediction is Angle wins this quickly as Sheamus did vs Daniel Bryan at wrestlemania 28. After which John Cena comes out and challenges him to a real match.

The Miz vs. Shane McMahon (Falls Count Anywhere):

This kind of reminds me of wrestlemania 12 Match of Goldust vs. Piper. I expect a knock out brawl between these two. With Shane making it personal I I have no doubt that the Miz goes over, but only after Shane takes a huge bump like he normally does in big matches.

Womens Tag Team Championship

Sasha Banks & Bayley (c) vs. Beth Phoenix & Natalya vs.Nia Jax & Tamina Snuka vs. The IIconics:

With all the build up they gave to crowning the first ever women’s tag team championship I feel it has been a little bit of a letdown. So I hope that changes this weekend. Unfortunately, this match will take back burner to the women’s main event. In a shocking turn of events I would not be surprised if the Iiconics walked out tag team champions.

United States Championship

Samoa Joe (c) vs. Rey Mysterio:

There are rumors that Rey suffered an ankle injury and his match on Monday night. It’s questionable if he will even be able to compete on Sunday. If somebody else steps up maybe Mustafa Ali I look for this match to be a good one. No matter who shows up to wrestle Joe I still think he wins and gets his wrestlemania moment.

Intercontinental Championship

Bobby Lashley (c) vs. Finn Balor:

I really dislike the way they have been flipping the Intercontinental championship so often lately. I think it diminishes the title and doesn’t give any credibility to any other wrestlers that hold it. I was torn between who I thought was going to win this match until Monday night. Now that the demon is going to be at wrestlemania there is no way he is Losing. Look for Finn to win this match cleanly and quickly.

Triple H vs. Batista (No Holds Barred; Triple H’s career on the line):

I really enjoyed the way Batista got Triple H’s attention by attacking Ric Flair. As far as the match goes I could really care less. In my opinion it’s a waste of time that could’ve gone to the younger talent and a bad age is there any match. With that said I believe this is a one and done for Batista and I don’t see Triple H retiring quite yet. So look for the game To go over and get his first victory against Batista, but don’t count out a rematch at crown jewel in Saudi Arabia.

AJ Styles vs. Randy Orton:

Here is another match that has gotten a great build up. I hope these guys are given enough time to go and show the crowd That they can still go even as they are getting a little older. AJ has been on top since he came to the WWE for the most part. With Randy’s part-time schedule has been having better matches since he has not been taking as many bumps. Most times at wrestlemania it’s the culmination of storylines, but this time I can see Orton winning and the storyline continuing for the next pay-per-view or two.

Roman Reigns vs. Drew McIntyre:

With Roman coming back after battling leukemia I looked for this match to be a lot slower then what it could’ve been. With that being said I still look for this match to be decent. I would love to see Drew McIntyre go over cleanly, but I don’t see that happening. It would not surprise if Dean Ambrose makes a surprise appearance and cost Roman the match & a chance for the feel-good moment. But of course I really don’t see that happening & WWE is going to pick up where they left off and cram Roman down our throats. Roman wins getting that decisive victory and retribution for his fellow particular field members.

WWE WORLD Championship

Daniel Bryan (c) vs. Kofi Kingston:

This storyline is almost identical to what Daniel Bryan went through down the road to wrestlemania 30. I wouldn’t be surprised if Vince throws another roadblock in Kofi’s way. Either way I see the match happening Close to the end of the card. Just like Daniel Bryan at wrestlemania 30 I look for Kofi to go over to win his first heavyweight championship.

WWE Universal Championship

Brock Lesnar (c) vs. Seth Rollins:

Of all the three title matches this is one of the only ones that I would not be surprise if the championsretained his title. I have been saying it for a while that if Brock Lesnar returns to the UFC McMahon would love to have a little cross promotion to gain viewership. But, that is very unlikely. Part of me believes that Seth Rollins will go over and win His first universal championship. I am totally flipping a coin to pick a winner on this match. In the end I’m going to go with Lesnar only because I believe he will drop the championship when the WWE returns to Saudi Arabia in the coming months.

MAIN EVENT: Raw/Smackdown Womens Championship

Ronda Rousey (c) vs. Becky Lynch vs. Charlotte Flair:

The build up for this match has been like one I haven’t seen in several years. Rhonda Rousey vs. Becky Lynch has been A match wrestling fans have been begging you for over the last couple months. With the inclusion of Charlotte I felt it diminish the match just a little bit, especially now that she holds The SmackDown Women’s championship. With it being the main event and closing out Wrestlemania there has to be a huge payout and something the fans will leave happy with unlike the past couple years.Being so over, I see no other way than for Becky to come out Victorious and hold both championships.
